Anthony Davis hilariously corrects error on Dallas Mavericks Instagram post welcoming him

The Dallas Mavericks were eager to welcome Anthony Davis to the team Tuesday following a blockbuster trade. However, in their haste to do so, someone on the social media team made a mistake on the Instagram post.

The post erroneously claimed Davis as a nine-time All-Star when the actual number is 10 if you count his nomination for this season, though the game has yet to occur. The big man was quick to correct it, commenting underneath the photo.

“***10X All-Star,” he wrote alongside with three laughing emojis.

Davis was traded to Dallas from the Los Angeles Lakers for Luka Doncic on Saturday evening in a deal that took the league by storm. Both players are stars in their own right, and Dallas has stated that it made the move to improve its defense, also noting in the post that Davis is a five-time member of the NBA’s All-Defense team.

Davis, who is 31 years old, was in his sixth season with the Lakers and 13th overall as a pro. He is averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.1 blocks per game.

The Mavericks are currently in eighth place in the Western Conference standings, which is 3.5 games behidn the Lakers, who are in fifth place. The hope is that this trade will allow them to move up post All-Star break as they aim for a deep run into the playoffs.

Davis will be a big part of that effort and overall seems excited to join his new team, even if they did make a slight mixup on his accolades.

All told, Dallas traded Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris to the Los Angeles for Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. Utah received Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2025 second round pick via the LA Clippers, and a 2025 second round pick via the Mavericks.

As the dust settles on the move, NBA legend Charles Barkley joined ESPN’s Get Up on Monday morning to react to the move. He believes it boiled down to Dallas not trusting their star player, and deciding to dish him out a super-max contract, which would’ve been worth $350 million with the Mavericks.

“None of us know what’s happening behind the scenes with the Mavericks,” Barkley stated. “But with this new CBA, they’ve got to give him five years, $350 million. Let me repeat that, because I’m like, ‘Wow’ — five years, $350 million. They know him better than anybody. They said, ‘He’s got something going on. He doesn’t get in shape. He’s not a great defender. Do we trust him?’ And they’re like, ‘We don’t trust him.’ It’s that plain. It’s that simple.

“There’s going to be a lot of noise going on around here. But the Mavericks, who know him better than anybody, the coaches and guys around there, the general manager says, ‘We cannot give this guy five years, $350 million.’ That’s the bottom line, plain and simple.”
