Pitt Panthers land commitment from 2026 safety Marcus Jennings

Detroit Cass Technical safety Marcus Jennings has committed to Pittsburgh, he announced on Sunday.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back chose the Panthers while also holding offers from the likes of Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Marshall and Charlotte.

Currently unranked in theĀ On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Jennings is a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports.

He’s the second commitment of the weekend for head coach Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt staff. On Friday, Sarasota (Fla.) BookerĀ three-star wide receiverĀ Dylan Wester announced his pledge. The pair join a class that also features Southlake (Texas) Carroll three-star quarterbackĀ Angelo RendaĀ and Westerville (Ohio) South safetyĀ Isaac Patterson.

Playing for one of the top high school football programs in Michigan, Jennings compiled 120 total tackles as a junior for Cass Tech.

In the 2025 cycle, Pitt signed the nation’s No. 55 class, according to theĀ On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The class did not feature a blue-chip signee, though the Panthers did do well recruiting the Sunshine State.

Ocoee (Fla.) three-star cornerbackĀ Joshua GuerrierĀ was the top-ranked signee, checking in as the No. 501 recruit and No. 46 CB in the cycle. He was one of a whopping eight prospects out of Florida to sign with Pitt, alongside the likes of Daytona Beach Spruce Creek three-star WRĀ Tony Kinsler, Miami Palmetto three-star WRĀ Cameron SappĀ and Tampa Plant three-star tight endĀ Max Hunt.

Guerrier was also one of four listed defensive backs to sign with the ACC program. Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern three-star CBĀ Mason AlexanderĀ and Haymarket (Va.) Battlefield three-star safetyĀ Cole WoodsonĀ were among the DBs to also ink with Narduzzi and Co.

Other top signees in the class include: Roswell (Ga.) three-star athleteĀ Synkwan Smith, Oregon (Ohio) Clay three-star quarterbackĀ Mason Heintschel, Olney (Md.) Good Counsel three-star linebackerĀ Justin Thompson, Chesterfield (Va.) Matoaca three-star WRĀ Bryce YatesĀ and Pittsburgh Thomas Jefferson three-star interior offensive linemanĀ Shep Turk.
