NC State coach Wes Moore didn’t waste any time in reloading his coaching staff after losing a pair of assistants to either a new job or retirement.

Moore is set to hire former Campbell head coach Ronny Fisher as an assistant, TheWolfpacker.com can confirm.

Fisher spent the last decade at the helm of the Camels, where he led the program to a pair of Big South regular season titles. He left the Campbell program in April to “pursue another opportunity.”

Under Fisher’s guidance, Campbell won 194 games, which included the Camels’ first WNIT win in program history as they downed Coastal Carolina in comeback fashion during the 2025 campaign. He helped Campbell to 102 wins at home in Buies Creek, posting a .729 winning percentage on the team’s home floor in the process.

Fisher is known for his defense, holding 118 teams to 50 points or less during his time at the helm of the program. He paced the Camels to the top scoring defense in the nation in the 2016-17 campaign, limiting opponents to just 49.6 points per game. Campbell ranked inside the top-25 in scoring defense in nine of the last 10 seasons, the only Division I program to do so in that stretch.

Additionally, the Camels owns a top-30 field goal percentage defense in seven of the last 10 seasons with a top-30 3-point field goal percentage defense in six of the last 10 years.

Before leading Campbell, Fishers was the head coach at Presbyterian for eight seasons (2008-16). He was previously a men’s assistant coach with the Blue Hose, serving as associate head coach during the team’s transition from D-II to D-I.

Fisher, a 1990 graduate of Furman University, has experience as an assistant coach at North Greenville University and as head coach at Conway (S.C.) High earlier in his coaching career.
