Oregon cornerback Mykael Wright declares for NFL Draft
Oregon has lost its second starting cornerback in as many weeks.
Mykael Wright, Oregon’s starting field cornerback, announced Saturday that has declared for the NFL Draft and will not participate in the Dec. 29 Alamo Bowl.
Wright started every game for the Ducks in 2021. He finished with one interception, four pass breakups, and 65 tackles and returned 12 kicks for 335 yards.
During his true sophomore season in 2020, Wright was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection. In 2021, he earned honorable mention all-conference honors.

Oregon’s other starting cornerback, DJ James, announced last week that he has entered the transfer portal. With the departures of Wright and James, the Ducks now have five scholarship cornerbacks.
Freshman Dontae Manning and Trikweze Bridges are the next up on the two-deep at Oregon’s respective cornerback spots. Avante Dickerson, Darren Barkins, and Jaylin Davies could also be in the mix for playing time.
